Artificial Turf Installation in the Bay Area

Good synthetic turf starts below the surface. We remove the old lawn and roots, grade for drainage, install and compact a permeable rock base, add weed barrier where it fits, then lay, seam and secure the turf and brush in infill. Done right, the lawn drains after winter storms and stays flat for years.

We install front and back lawns, pet turf with antimicrobial infill and fast drainage, putting greens, turf strips between stepping stones and pavers, and play areas. We pair turf with drip irrigation, mulch and low-water planting so the yard still looks alive.

Water-Wise Landscaping Rules

  • MWELO: California’s Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance, or a stricter local version, applies to new landscapes of 500 sq ft or more and rehabilitated landscapes of 2,500 sq ft or more when the project needs a permit or plan review. It sets a water budget, irrigation efficiency and plant-water rules.
  • HOAs: under California Civil Code §4735, a homeowners association cannot prohibit low water-using plants or artificial turf, though it can set reasonable design standards.
  • Front yards: some cities require a share of the front setback to stay landscaped or permeable. We check your zoning before design.
  • Heat: synthetic turf gets hot in full sun. We suggest lighter-colored products, shade trees or a mix of turf and planting for hot inland yards in Livermore, Gilroy and Morgan Hill.

Artificial Turf & Landscaping FAQ

How long does artificial turf last?

Quality turf installed on a proper base typically lasts many years. Sun exposure, foot traffic and pets affect wear.

Is artificial turf good for dogs?

Yes, with the right product. We use pet turf with a permeable backing, a well-draining base and infill designed to limit odor.

Can my HOA stop me from installing artificial turf?

Not outright. California Civil Code §4735 prevents HOAs from banning artificial turf, though they may approve the product and design.

Do you also install real plants and irrigation?

Yes. We combine turf with drip irrigation, mulch and water-wise plants so the yard meets local water rules.
