Kitchens for Newark Homes

Newark’s mid-century homes often have compact kitchens closed off from the living space. We open them up, add islands and storage, upgrade electrical and appliances, and modernize lighting. Structural and system work is part of our scope.

Front-of-House Changes Trigger Design Review

A kitchen remodel inside the house goes straight to building plan check in eTRAKiT. If the project adds windows or a bump-out at the front of the house, including the street side of a corner lot, it needs Single-Family Design Review first.

Single-Family Design Review is required in Newark for new homes, second-story additions and second-story exterior changes, and additions or exterior changes at the front of the house, including the street side of corner lots. It follows guidelines adopted by the Planning Commission in 2007. Neighbors are notified, and approval starts a 14-day appeal period.
